Prosulfocarb Resistance Map, Germany

Description

This dataset provides a geo-referenced resistance map of key grass weed species – Alopecurus myosuroides (blackgrass) and Lolium multiflorum (Italian ryegrass), plus a small set of Bromus sterilis (barren brome) populations – to prosulfocarb (VLCFA inhibitor, Group 15 / legacy K3) across Germany.

Data were collected through Agris42’s national monitoring program (2019–2025) and complemented with farmer-submitted resistance samples. Each population was characterized in biotests under controlled greenhouse conditions. Geographic coordinates are included for each sampling point that carries them.

Data Content

  • 3,720 characterized grass weed populations (2,968 with approx. location)
  • Resistance classification per population: resistant (≤50% efficacy), partial resistance (51–89%), sensitive (≥90%).
  • Efficacy values (% control at the 1× recommended field dose)
  • Species identification per sample – ALOMY 2,038 · LOLMU 1,669 · BROSS 13 (barren brome coverage is limited – treat as indicative only)
  • Sampling date per population
  • Regional summaries per federal state available on request

Methodology

  • Seeds collected from 1,300+ monitored fields and 6,000+ farmer submissions
  • Greenhouse biotests under controlled conditions (GEP-certified facility)
  • Spray robot application for standardized dose delivery
  • Assessment at growth stage BBCH 13–14 (two-leaf stage)
  • Control efficacy scored visually and by biomass at 21 DAS
  • Reference sensitive population included in each test batch
  • Resistance factor (RF) calculated per population

Context & Typical Use Cases

  • Resistance strategy development: understand the current spread of prosulfocarb resistance to design effective resistance-management recommendations.
  • Market positioning: identify regions where VLCFA (Group 15 / K3) products retain efficacy, or where alternatives are urgently needed.
  • R&D prioritization: locate populations with specific resistance profiles for targeted experiments or follow-up dose-response studies.
  • Regulatory data: use geo-referenced resistance data to support label amendments, efficacy claims, or resistance-monitoring submissions.
  • Cross-species benchmarking: compare herbicide efficacy across grass (ECHCG) and broadleaf (CHEAL, AMARE) species under identical conditions.
  • Product portfolio analysis: identify which active retains the broadest efficacy across the key row-crop weeds.
  • Regulatory / stewardship data: support efficacy claims and stewardship submissions for ALS herbicides in maize and sugar beet.

Extension Options

  • Additional data from other countries
  • Custom regional extract (e.g. only NRW or Bavaria)
  • Combined with the chlortoluron resistance map (26_A14) or aclonifen resistance map (26_A13) for an extended target overview
  • Follow-up dose-response experiments on selected populations (full dose-response is withheld from the base product)
  • Physical seed samples of characterized populations (on request)
  • Annual update subscription (new monitoring-season data)
